Elf Nightly Notes

Form EF-3 · Nightly Field Dispatch

Most elf nights need only two things: a funny scene and a note to explain it. The Elf Nightly Note is a short letter from your elf on Field Operations letterhead, covering what they got up to, a kind word about something your child did and a cheerful sign-off. Match it to any idea in our collection, or let the Bureau write one from scratch.

Re: Nightly Field Dispatch

Good morning, Maya and Leo!

Last night I told the reindeer a joke and they laughed so hard they fell over. What do elves learn at school? The elf-abet! I’ll be here all season.

Today’s mission: practise your best giggle. I’ll be listening.

When it’s called for

  • Every night of elf season, alongside the scene.
  • Low-energy nights, when a note on its own is plenty.
  • Encouraging a kindness or habit without nagging.
  • Explaining why the elf has barely moved (it was a very busy night at the North Pole).

How to file it

4 steps
  1. 1Pick tonight's ideaChoose a scene from our elf ideas, or skip the scene entirely on a tired night.
  2. 2Fill in the noteAdd your child's name, your elf's name and what happened. Each idea includes a ready-made note.
  3. 3Compose and printClassic notes are instant. Personalised notes mention something real from your child's day.
  4. 4Leave it with the elfProp the note against the scene so it's the first thing spotted in the morning.

Questions from grown-ups

Elf Nightly Note

Plain answers about this document, for the grown-ups doing the filing.

Q.1What should the elf write in a note?

Keep it short: what the elf did, one kind observation about your child and a cheerful sign-off. Positive notes work far better than reminders about behaviour.

Q.2Do I need a new elf idea every night?

No. Plenty of families alternate big scenes with simple “the elf moved and left a note” nights. A good note does most of the work.

Q.3Can the elf notes match my elf ideas?

Yes. Every idea in our collection includes the note your elf leaves, and the 24-night planner pairs them automatically.
